• When I log into WP-admin – I get the following notification:
Your backup folder might be visible to the public.
To correct this issue, move the .htaccess file from wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to ?????????
It doesn’t suggest where the .htaccess.txt file should go!
I have no idea where it should go – can anybody suggest what I should do about this?
I tried moving the file to wp-includes but I’m still getting the original notification!
    HELP!

If you are trying to use the .htaccess file, you need to drop the .txt extension. You should be able to do this via FTP by editing the file name.

After doing a little digging, it looks like others have had similar problems with this plugin as well. For more information, you can check out this thread over at WordPress Answers: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/1027/removing-the-your-backup-folder-might-be-visible-to-the-public-message-generat

I had the same issue and since I could not remember my FTP Access Login Info I decided to try something different and low and behold it worked for me.

If you are using Hostgator to host your site you can login to your CPanel and go to Legacy File Manager under Files. Locate the site you want to make the change and click on the folder icon on the left of the website address. This will take you to the files and click on the folder icon on the left of wp-content.

Next you will be taken to the files area where you will see backup-db. Click on the folder icon on the left of this file and it will open a new page where at the bottom of the list you should see the ” htaccess.txt “

When you click on the “htaccess.txt” you will notice a set of options on the top right margin. One of the options it offers is, “Rename Folder”. Click on “Rename Folder” and a box will open to create a new name. Here you will input, “.htaccess”.

    Hope this helps…
