• Oh, WordPress will be the death of me.

I have a 3 column blog, with 2 sidebars – one on the left and the other on the right. I wanted to move certain parts (“recent posts”) from the right side to the left side. How would I do this? I tried to copy and paste the php files but that didn’t work.

    help? pleasssee? ??

  • Well, WP won’t be the death of you. It doesn’t much care where you put things. ??

Theme editing appears to be a challenge for you though!

I’m sure there are some folks that would like to help, but you forgot to provide a link to your blog and/or mention what theme you’re using. Without info, we can’t begin to help.

As an aside, if you’re using a widget enabled theme you just drag ‘n’ drop sidebar items around. Very simple, very easy. No coding. You can find some widgetized themes over at https://themes.wordpress.net/

i know, theme editing has been very difficult for me because i am the definition of php/css illiteracy. all this jargon was completely foreign to me only a few days ago. and i tried to browse through the archives and the docs on template customizing but i couldn’t find the answers.

my pathetic excuse of a website is at: https://www.paradisephoto.org/blog

my current theme is clumsily erected on the scaffoldings of the Sky3c theme by Kaushal Sheth. i think that’s a version of the Anthosia3c theme.

anyway, any advice that could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!

ok, so i checked and apparently the sky3c theme is widget ready but i don’t know how to do this “drag and drop” that you speak of…

If you click on Presentation, do you see “Sidebar Widgets” in the sub-menu?

If you check your Plugins page, do you see any plugins with widget in their name that need to be activated?

um, didn’t see widget in the submenu under presentation.

do i have to download the plug-in in order to move stuff around like you said? what is it called? b/c the plug-ins that are there now do not indicate such an ability (hello dolly, akismet, wp backup).

Ok, don’t panic, but just a bit more reading:

You can find more widgets here: https://widgets.wordpress.com/

thanks. i downloaded the sidebar widgets and that makes the moving around stuff much easier. except, it totally throws off my margins and the alignment. how would i go about fixing that if there is no coding involved? also, it double spaces my lists and i don’t know how to fix that to single spaces either. ??
