Moving site URL

    I am following this, but it seems like this is for someone that doesn’t have the example.com/wp already setup? I installed wordpress from softaculous through my webhosts cpanel. I can see all of my changes through example.com/wp but I would like to now move that to example.com. Can I just change:

    In the box for Site address (URL): change the address to the root directory’s URL. Example: https://example.com

    All the files are already within the sub directory of my root, so I feel like some of these steps are unnecessary.
