Hi, Can someone point out what stupid thing im doing wrong
I created a website localy on my pc, in fact i did the nyc video tutorial with the sydney theme and it all looked nice, all the links work etc.
Now i want to put up on real host so my charity can see the work i have done. I use “duplicator” to zip up the site and create the installer and package.
I wipe the target sql inc key and i run the installer, it confirms im changing the website address from https://locahost/site to the target site address and proceeds to install the site. All looks good, i then do the permalink update and save.
I refresh the site page and i can see the website frontpage and everything is fine, i login to wp-admin and i can see the dashboard ok, i click on visit site and again the frontpage is displayed with the black admin banner at the top, this is where it goes wrong, if i click on the edit page or customize i get the white page of death, the link it shows is something like /pheonix/wp-admin/post.php?post=48&action=edit (i have removed the start of the link)
I have even this evening started a completely new website on my local pc, installed wordpress, the theme and just the frontpage with graphics, blown away everything on the public host and again using “duplicator” have uploaded and installed the test website, I get exactly the same type of error.
This should be simple, i thought i fully understood how the website relocated, its bugging the hell out of me that i cant get this to work.
Put me out of my misery PLEASE!!!

A white screen means that PHP is crashing, usually due to a function conflict, probably introduced by plugins or theme functions.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

James, your advice is most appreciated, I will try this tonight. What is bugging the hell out of me is its working 100% on my dev box which is a 4 year old all in 1 portable website, moving it to a commercial host I would have thought should be painless.
    Anyways, thanks again

Should be painless, but different servers can have different PHP configurations. ??

should and i been killing myself for the last 2 weeks trying to work out what i did wrong, in the end i contacted my host asking for advice, they don’t normally help with actual products just the hosting but this time they had a look and identified my server had memory issues, they increased the ram allocation and all of a sudden everything is working as expected.. that will teach me to not assume the host resources were correct

many thanks for your help, appreciated

just goes to show you, my host i have been using for 5 years and didn’t realise my site was under resourced, i took it for granted it was ok and it was something i was doing

No worries, I’ve been at this for around 12 years and still manage to learn or find something new ever day. ??
