Moving server

I’ve taken over the running of a wordpress website, I need some advice on moving the site correctly.

I’ve got all the files via FTP, and downloaded the sql file of the database through php myadmin.

How do I move the site? Is it a simple case of transferring the files via ftp, creating a new mysql database through phpmyadmin and importing the sql file (or is this step wrong?) and then simply flipping the nameserver switch?

I’d really like someone who’s done this befor to sanity check my steps above and advise me on the correct, follproof way of doing a server move!
