Moving posts to a new installation

I have 66 posts under a custom post type; how do I change the posts so that they are no longer under this custom post type, but organized like “normal”, default posts? Do I need to export the posts, edit the XML file and import it, or is there a better way? And if not, what do I need to edit? THANK YOU!
