• Is there a way to do this? I want to clean up and reduce the number of categories I’m using, so for instance I want my 20 posts which were formerly under ‘politics’ to be moved to ‘news’.

Yes, but what if you have 30 categories and want to reduce them to 10? Then you have to be able to move for instance 30 posts from dogs to the category ‘animals’, 20 posts about cats to the category ‘animals’, 20 posts from ‘new age’ to the category ‘religion’, etc. Deleting a category will bring all the post to ‘general’. But what then? They still have to be moved to their new category.

yeah, thats why i talked abt phpmyadmin. he would have to changed the categories in all the posts that ways.
