• Hi,

I know that there are many articles and documents in the Codex and elsewhere about moving a WP site. Unfortunately I’m having a hard time understanding them.

Here’s the situation. We have a site up and running called https://www.tennesseegrassfed.com. It’s based on a different platform, RapidWeaver. We’ve redesigned the site using WP. It is located at https://www.baggettfamilyfarm.com.

Both sites/URLs are with the same host. In each case they are in a directory called public_html (in case that matters).

Next week we will want to move the WP site at baggettfamilyfarm.com to tennesseegrassfed.com to replace it.

I’m getting really worried about how I’m going to do that and I was wondering whether anyone could explain the most straight forward way for me to do this.

    Thanks!
    Martin

each [site is] in a directory called public_html (in case that matters).

Have you talked with your host about what you want to do? With each site having its own public_html folder, I would think you are dealing with two accounts (one hosting account for each site, not two sites at one hosting account). So, I think you might be able to simply rename the baggett site to tennessee and then re-point the tennessee URL to its new location and close the baggett account (unless you need or want to keep it for some reason). I might be completely wrong there, but you might talk with your host and ask whether your switch might actually be relatively simple.

leejosepho, thanks for the reply. Yes, you’re right, of course, there are two different hosting accounts with the same hosting service.

I’ll check with the host about the possibility of what your suggesting today.

    Thanks for the idea.
