moving multisite to new server causes links to redirect

  • Hi. A friend that I did a WP site for bought a new url and hosting account, and moved the files and the database to the new server. The site went down and said only that there was a database error. I cleared the database, deleted the wp-config and made a new one from the wp-config-sample file. Then I added the multisite functions into the wp-config and the .htaccess file. Then I restored the old database. The site shows up now but all of the links redirect back to the index.php page.

    What am I doing wrong? I have never tried to move a multisite to a new server.

  • In your old database please change the website url in wp_options table.

    You can also trying saving the permalink structure again. I hope it helps.

    Thanks. I just tried that. I fixed the old URLS in the wp-options in the database. There were a few of them for each of the blogs. wp_options, wp_2_options….and I went to the permalink page in the wordpress dashboard and hit save. (is this what u meant) Nothing changed. the page is just redirecting to the index.php page? Any other ideas
