  • Hi Tahoom, yes you can do that by following these steps:
    1.On the site where you have the posts you are working on, once you finish go to
    1.TOOLS=Click on EXPORTS
    2. Choose POSTS/PAGES
    3. Now login to the other site and go to TOOLS, this time click on IMPORT;
    4. Choose WordPress=install the plugin importer
    5. Import the xml file you just exported from the previous steps. And that’s all you have to do.

    Thanks Edgar
    with this method can I only import and export a specific post? or all of the posts will be exported? Because I wanna to write posts one by one and transfer them one by one to the server and probably without any images (I’ll add the images on the server). With this method when I import and export posts what will happen for the posts with the same name?

    Hi Tahoom,

    Is it really necessary to write posts on a local install of WordPress first? If not, you have a couple of options.

    • You can save drafts in WordPress.
    • You can write and save it in a text file, then copy and paste the text in WordPress.
    • You can use a desktop app for blog writing. A quick Google search will lead you to options for your OS

    Hi grvrulz, for some reasons I must write posts on a local install of wordpress, but many thanks for your help.

    Alternatively, if you are using a Windows based computer, you can use Windows Live Writer 2012. It is a free download.

    On the Mac OS, I am not aware of a similar good, free app, but I use MarsEdit on my MacBook Pro.

    I create the majority of my posts with these two apps; no internet connection required. You can add images, etc. and they will be uploaded to your server to the correct location when you do finally publish the post.

    An additional benefit is that you have a local copy of your posts; a great ‘automatic’ backup ??

    hi SniffleValve
    I’m using windows and will use Windows Live Writer 2012 as you suggested. It will be a great backup.
    Thanks
