• Hi everyone!

So I’m currently hosting on bluehost but moving to register365. My domain is still with bluehost and can’t be transferred over as it’s currently locked. Do I need to change the name servers because of this?

Another concern is what exactly I need to move over. I’ve uploaded my public_html file and the back ups into my new file manager on Register365 and I’m wondering what else I need to do? Do I need to download my sql database and move that over too? I want to make sure that when my host package with bluehost expires (on the 31st) that everything in order and I haven’t forgotten anything!

    Thanks!

  • 1. you do not need to move domain.. change the dns according to new host.
    2. The rough way to do this is just move all of your files to new host’s public_html, and backup database, create new DB in new host, upload to database, edit wp-config.php (how to) and enter new database details and change the dns of your domain. this process is faster for me as I like to work backend. bit if you want to move your site to new host according to guideline, check here.

Quick update. Both my php admin and file manager on blue host and register365 have the exact same files in them. Have I done everything I need to for the migration?

you need to edit wp-config and add (or double check) the database name, username, password.

@wpnerdzz thanks for the reply! So I just edited wp-config in my new host. Now all I need to do is go onto bluehost and change the dos so it redirects to register365?

register365 (or whatever) provided their dns to you right? (Sorry I can not tell exactly where it is in the menu because I am using self managed VPS for a long time, and even forgot what the managed hosting looks like). contact them for the dns of your hosting and add those dns to bluehost’s domain nemeserver panel. u can find plenty of tutorial of this thing if you search something like “change dns of Bluehost”

Brilliant, that’s exactly what I did! Thanks so much for your help ??

    Hi,

I have just finished up a contract with Bluehost and want to move back to WordPress as a host. Can you advise how I do this?

    Thanks,
