Moving hosting to GoDaddy and moving site to WP

  • I get this message when trying to access my new WP setup through GoDaddy:
    Not Found

    The requested URL /wp-admin/ was not found on this server.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    I need to login in order to move my site to WP.

    Help!

    I added my site to GoDaddy Hosting, then went to c-panel to activate WP. It activated WP and gave me an admin user name and PW, which I changed, and then it processed and confirmed the install.

    OK. Have you changed your domain names nameserver settings to point to the new hosting server yet?

    Not sure what that means, sorry.

    OK, that means that you haven’t done it. ??

    If you got your domain name thorugh HostGator as well, then you should have it set up by them from the start, but if not you should contact their support staff and ask them to either change it, or help you with changing it.

    If you got your domain name somewhere else you’ll need to get the nameserver details that HostGator sent in your ‘Welcome’ email and update your domain name with those. Your domain name provider can help you with how to do that.

    I’m on Vernet and someone else loaded my site there. My Domain name has always been with GoDaddy.

    OK, so did you follow what I said above? You need to set the nameservers of your domain to point to the new hosting server. Hostgator and your domain name provider can help you with this. Unfortuantely there’s nothing that anyone else can do because we don’t have any access to your details.
