Moving galleries from WP.com to self-hosted

Hello all,

I’m wondering if there’s any way to move my galleries/media library from my free WP site to a self hosted. I can think of a manual way to re upload all of the various pictures I had into my server, but that seems tedious considering how much I need to move. If it’s a difficult task to try and wholesale move the media library/galleries I might do it the old fashioned way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
