• Ok, real new to this whole blogging thing. I set up an account in wordpress.com, purchased our name (brushedbyanangel.com) then paid 45 dollars for hosting. I went to build it and found out that in order to get plug ins we had to be on www.remarpro.com. Now after looking at it, I am really getting confused as to what I am registered with and what I paid for. Can I become a .org site? Will the money I spent be wasted? How do I go about this? Any help would be sooooo appreciated!

  • If you switch from .com to .org, then yes you will have wasted $ and you will also need to pay for hosting and will need to set up everything yourself.

Here is some info about the differences:

Yes, in order to use plugins you’ll need to be on the www.remarpro.com software which is the open source blogging platform that wordpress.com is based on.

If you paid wordpress.com for some upgrades and you want to move to www.remarpro.com software on a self hosting service then the money is probably gone. How long ago did you pay? I would email them and ask if they will refund you so you can move to a self hosted www.remarpro.com site.

I just migrated one of my customers 2 weekends ago from wordpress.com over to a self hosted www.remarpro.com account. If you are interested in any assistance feel free to contact me privately. [bryce at bravobryce dot com]
