Moving from MT: Textile and Markdown problems

  • Here’s a dilemma that’s holding me back from moving to WP from MT. For quite some time, I was marking up my entries in Textile, but recently switched to Markdown, as it’s very close to how I markup email.
    Under Movable Type, both plugins can be simultaneously installed and work without conflict. Under WP, I can only have one or the other. I’m willing to switch my entire site over to Markdown, and know I could write a plugin to convert it, but my RegEx skills are rather poor.
    Is there any way to get both of these working together? Or am I just out of luck?

  • Sadly, it’s not currently possible to apply filters on a per-post basis, although I have no doubt this will be in a future release.
    I switched anyway and just spent a bit of spare time this week to convert all my posts to the same format. Unfortunately the Markdown plugin has some serious (read: showstopping) issues right now, so you might want to hold off until it’s fixed.
