• Hi,

I have 28 pages in HTML, which end with .html extension. They have good rankings on Google, page 1 and 2.

I am planning to move to WordPress. I will still keep same URL except the .html will be removed. For my blog section, I have another directory for it, /blog/xxxxx.html. For this, I am planning to remove the /blog/ by putting all pages to one directory itself, thus, URLs for blog pages will not have /blog/ anymore.

I am worrying about SEO ranking. What is the best way to go ahead with my case at the minimum loss of ranking?

  • Use a redirection plugin. That will let you set up the correct 301 redirections for any URL’s that change when you move your site to the new WordPress platform.
