I am moving my hosting account from NameCheap to GoDaddy. I installed WordPress, moved the database files and the wp-content files as instructed into a folder with the same name as the to-be-moved domain, i.e. https://CostaRicaDentalimplants.org

I understand I can go to the URL of the hosted URL at godaddy and add the name of the folder and test to see all works fine. But when I go to https://grossinternational.com/costaricadentalimplants/ I get a partial load.

Of course if you try it now, this minute, even that doesn’t work because I tried some other things and now nothing comes up.

But before I screwed it up even worse, it was loading the background and the menu and images ok, but nothing on the right side (widgets) and a big ‘Not Found’ on the page.

I had the same problem at the other site I’m moving but I’ve not screwed it up yet, so you can see what I mean at https://grossinternational.com/incostarica/

GoDaddy cust support who is normally great suggested I search here for an answer. They thought, but weren’t sure, that I was missing a CSS file.

    Anyone have any ideas?

  • 1st suggestion… Never use GoDaddy for hosting. They are a horrible web host. Cancel if you can, get your money back and choose another host.

If you are interested in some suggestions, send me a Private Message and I can give you some, and I can make a couple bucks also. With that I would be willing to help you completely with the migration.

Beyond that, the transfer is pretty simple. Zip all the files from the old server, upload and unzip them on the new server. Export the database from the old server through phpmyadmin, import it on the new server, then change the relevant settings in you config.php file in the root of your WordPress installation.
