• I have wp installed and fully functional in a subdirectory titled /wptest; however, now that everything is ready to go, I want it to run from my root directory. At presesnt, MT (though installed in the cgi-bin) runs from the root directory. How can I move wp where I need it without corrupting any MT files? I don’t need the MT anymore, but I’d like to have it for safekeeping just for a little while. Can anyone help me on moving directories?

  • you should try to rename the static files published by MT. If you are using the .php extension for your index, you should replace that. WP has index.php
Try looking at files that might be overwritten then rename them.
As for folders they are not a problem as long as you don’t have the same name as the folders in your WP installation.
Overwriting the static files of MT is not a problem because as long as you still have your MT installation you can access your templates and republish them. But watch out if you *accidentally* overwrite your WP index or any file related to WP because you don’t have a copy of that.

Do I need to move everything out of /wptest, or do I just change the base settings in the admin screen from /wptest to something like /index?
