Moving .com site to .org site because i was unable to update

  • I had this hosted site at santiapps.com and I always had issues updating to the latest WP and PHP and themes because of file permissions. Must have had something to do with mediatemple as the host and my lack of knowledge of how to manage permissions on the server.

    So I messed with it so much that my site now doesnt work cause I messed with it so much as you can see by loading santiapps.com.

    So I just want to import it into a new instance of www.remarpro.com called santiapps2021.wordpress.com. I have this old zip file from March 2020, but Im sure it has all my stuff there. I ran the importer and it uploaded the file which seems awfully small at 22MB but ok. It uploads and processes the file and I get this error:

    The import archive contains one or more invalid files. Please make sure the names of your XML files don’t contain punctuation marks like brackets, commas, quotes, etc.
    Make sure you are using a valid WordPress export file in XML or ZIP format. Still need help?

    The filename (which was created by the backup app itself) is:
    SantiappsNov2019_2020-04-29_18-22-01

  • The backup file you have seems to be broken so that cannot be used. If you do not have any other backups of your own, then ask your Hoster if they do. Ask if they can restore your site to date that you know when it was working or give you the oldest backup them have. Otherwise it may be that you will have to start all over again.

    ok well i still have my site. it just seems all the wp-config was erased so it wont load anymore.
