• Perhaps you can help me get out of this one…

I am trying out a new web host (anyhow on my old host I would have to move my blog to a new location — so I thought I would check out this other host which has some advantages)

I downloaded all of my files from my old blog to my computer and then up onto my new host. On my new host I titled the name of the blog the same as on the old one.

I edited wp-config.php to match my new database.

Before I imported my database to the new location, I tried opening my blog — and received a window welcoming me to a new installation of WP. I entered a title and was given a username and password. (is this causing the problem?)

I used php admin to export my database to my computer and then import it into my new location.

But now all I get is a blank screen for my blog and my dashboard!

I see all the files on my new host.

    Please help.

Try resettings your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename everything except the /twentyten/ directory. This will force the Twenty Ten theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

    Dear Mr. MacManx,

    You did it!

Again you got me out of my troubles. I deactivated my plugins and now I am in!!!

At first, many parts of my dashboard were inaccessible and many pages of my blog. But somehow, that has all cleared up!

I reactivated the plugins. They all reactivated just fine — except for one: Simple:Press forum. This is a great plugin with a very powerful forum for my site!

    I get an error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/vol12/byethost15.com/b15_5867758/choveveitzion.com/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/credentials/sf-new-user-email.php on line 52

Any more suggestions what I should do?

Thank you for all of your help!

    You’re welcome!

Try reinstalling the plugin. The files may have been corrupted during the move.

I’m still having trouble with this plugin (Simple Press forum)

I uploaded a new version of the forum — and updated my blog to 3.0.

Now I get a different error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 25165824 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 77824 bytes) in /home/vol12/byethost15.com/b15_5867758/choveveitzion.com/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/library/sf-database.php on line 3553

    Can anyone help me?

That error occurred because of a server level limitation. Talk with your hosting support and tell them about this error and they will solve it for you (will lift the limitation perhaps).

    Good luck!
