• I’m working on a development site for a client where we are moving their entire website to a new host with their blog being a wordpress blog. We’re migrating all of their content over to the new host but I’m not sure how to move the wordpress blog posts over so it looks identical to the current live blog on their current website. The framework has been moved over, just not the posts. They want their current site to be undistruped during the process. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thank you,

  • Hi CocoCarina, if you haven’t already, I would suggest taking a look at this article:
Moving WordPress to a New Server

If after reading that article you have any questions, feel free to respond back and I’d be happy to assist further.

If you’re moving to a new server, you’ll most likely be updating your nameservers along the way as well. If you have any questions on nameservers or DNS changes, I’d be happy to help. I do have a video on the matter here, DNS and Nameserver Changes, and the theory behind DNS changes applies generally no matter which hosting company you’re moving to / from.

Hi Brad, thanks for responding. ?? I transferred over the SQL database and most of the items transferred over, except now the plugins are not showing up. Any advise on that? Thanks for your help!

Hi CocoCarina, the plugins, while some of them may use a database, are not transferred over when you migrate the database. You’ll want to be sure that you use FTP to copy everything in your wp-content/plugins folder as well.
