• I want to move my blog from domain.com/folder/ to subdomain.domain.com.

Is this a chore? What should I consider?

There is the URLs in Options>General, FTP settings…

What about moving all the files around with FTP–could that be a problem? What about MySQL and all that stuff which runs in the background?

In Options, change the URL’s. Change both.
    Now move your files
    Log back in.

Do it in that order or things will break.
Is the subdomain already active ? If not, you could have problems.
Do you have phpmyadmin just in case it is needed ?

I have already created the subdomain in CPanel, which also has phpmyadmin.

Well then all you need to do is do as podz said.

All right. So WP will configure the database and all that automatically? Better make a backup anyway.

    Backup is always recommended ??
Otherwise there is nothing to “configure” – except the two values which you change manually before the move.
