• I created a website (laurieshort.com) on iWeb about 3 years ago. I added a WordPress site (blog.laurieshort.com) with a link widget on the WordPress blog page to my iWeb site pages and a link on my iWeb pages back to the blog site. I want to dump all the iWeb pages and create new ones using the theme I picked, NatureOne Pro. It is all hosted at BlueHost.

How do I get my primary domain, laurieshort.com, to have it go to my WordPress theme home page? I’ll create new pages for the ones I’m not using in iWeb anymore.

I’ve tried and messed it up by changing the URL of the WordPress and Site addresses in my Settings/General tab of the Dashboard and then had to go into phpMyAdmin and correct them. That, of course, didn’t work.

I have public_html/blog and I have public_html/laurieshort in my file manager so they are subfolders. What I don’t know how to do is have laurieshort.com be my WordPress site and get rid of the iWeb part and the blog.laurieshort.com part.

I had someone mention “If you have control over your domain’s nameservers you could point those to BlueHost then create your site on the same url as your iWeb site.” but I don’t really follow what to do with that. I have DNS Zone Editor on my BlueHost cPanel but it’s not clear how to change it their.

Any help greatly appreciated. I know I’m one of those guys that knows just enough to be dangerous messing around with this stuff but I’m learning the more I screw it up ??

    Thanks,
    Jerome

Just to followup and resolve this, I had a chat session with Cody from BlueHost and he said that all I need to do was delete all the iWeb files in my “laurieshort” subfolder, under public_html and then move all the contents of the “blog” subfolder into the “laurieshort” subfolder, change the Site and Home url in the database and I should be good.

I haven’t done it yet but now that makes so much sense instead of trying a bunch of DNS changes or redirects.

I’ll update if this doesn’t work but I wanted to close this loop.

    Thanks,
    Jerome
