Moving author name, publish date and categories to top

I have recently abandoned my old Pagelines theme in favour of Twenty Sixteen following a widget problem and have been resourcing some tweaks to get it looking the way I want.
One thing that I would like to do if possible is to move the author’s name, date and catagory so that it sits above the post and not to the left. If I post an image first it is pinched but then any subsequent picture goes full width. Presumably, this would then allow the text to go full width as well?

I like the look and feel of a more traditional layout and searched high and low before discovering Twenty Sixteen did more or less what I was looking for.

Another thing, is there a way of reducing the font size in the header of the individual post? The front page is okay and much smaller and fits in one line.
