Moved to new server/domain name, restored DB then asked to run install.php

  • I’ve just shifted my site to a new hosting provider and changed the domain name. I followed Podz excellent instructions on how to accomplish this and all went well….almost!

    Once I restored the database, I was directed to the page that says “It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.”

    I did so and my site did work however only some of the data showed up on screen and none of it appeared in the adminstration screens. I dropped the DB tables and tried again with the same result.

    Can you give me any advice as to what might have gone wrong?

  • Was the table_prefix in the wp-config.php file the same as in the database ?

    Yes, I checked and the table prefix is correct. It is

    wp_

    The site is connecting to the database without any problem. It seems it’s the data import that’s giving me grief.
