• Godaddy recently had me move my wordpress site to another server. It moved and they say all files, posts, content, etc. is on the server correctly. Although my wordpress seems to be jacked up, admin shows 1 post and 5 pages. I have 170 posts, 10 pages. Plus the categories are not showing either. Godaddy says it’s a wordpress issue.

    HELP!!!

    Website is: johnconner.com

I’m a little slow at this so be kind.

You may need to repair the database.

Access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), check all of the tables, and choose “Repair tables” from the pull-down menu.

If that doesn’t work, contact them again and insist that this wasn’t a problem until they moved it.

Still big problems. Go daddy is now going to do a complete restore. $150 and can take 7 to 10 days, and said the restore “should” work. Ugh!

Godaddy was saying it has something to do with my sql database being an older version and not compatible with the newer wordpress platforms.

I have 170 posts showing on the server side, just not showing on my admin page (1 post showing)

Spent hours and hours on the phone with godaddy, they tried everything. Now the last resort is the restore.

    Does anyone have any thoughts?

Do you still have access to the old server installation OR outside access to the database?

No when they moved me to the new server they cancelled the other old server.

I don’t know what you mean by “outside access to the datebase.”

Can you access the database using something like HeidiSQL or only connect through a web admin?

It’s problems like these that I’m glad I didn’t go with GoDaddy and stayed with Hostgator.

Did you keep a backup of your database so that you restore your database.

Othello, I have no idea. Never heard of heidiSQL.

Yesterday the godaddy rep took me to look at my SQL database which showed the complete list of all posts, data etc. I think the site was talled “Star Field” or something like that.

I’m sorry, I wish I could be more informative.

govpatel, I do have a backup on my desktop. Godaddy was telling me my database is an older version and having compatibility issues with the wordpress platform.

I think when you upgrade and have older database then wordpress will tel to upgrade the database in admin I may wrong May be one of moderator give more info on this.

I just searched and found this

Yes wordpress did ask me to upgrade the database which was completed correctly. Still no posts showing when we were working on it yesterday.

All the posts are showing in “php my admin” although not showing on my site.

Starfield Tech is evidently a sister-company of godaddy, where we were viewing the content in php my adiin.

    Thanks govpatel, for the info!

I hope this restore works – fingers crossed.

Here are the steps I have taken with godaddy

I downloaded the entire wordpress folder and a backup of the database, I uploaded the files, restored the database and fixed the connection strings.

When I attempted to view my site, I could only see one post both on the front-end and the admin panel, althought they are showing in the php my admin area.

I also checked the database, and it looks like the data is still available in the database.

Also, each time I went into my admin panel, it asked me to “update my database,” which I did.

Still only 1 post showing and no categories.

    Thanks
