Moved to a new database

  • Hi,

    I had to move my wordpress site to a new account (with the same provider)
    I backed up the database (structure and Data) and also downloaded all the files from the site with Filezilla.
    I then went to the new account and created a new database and transferred the Domain name.
    I then installed wordpress anew.
    I then logged into phpmyadmin and tried to import the .sql backup.
    this ‘seemed to work’
    I then uploaded all the backup wordpress files into the new webspace
    Now when I log in there are NO pages, the library of images etc does not show up in the media section of wordpress, and my site does not appear when I go the the url, just the std ‘New WordPress’ page.
    What am I doing wrong? I really don’t want to have to rebuild the site from scratch again.

    transferred the Domain name.

    your nameservers may not have fully propagated.

    Have you discussed the issue with your hosting provider? If you havn’t, you may want to do it

    Would the name servers alone cause the wordpress to not show the image library or the pages?
    I can go to the domain name and it shows me the new wordpress install, it’s just that none of the data appears to be there.

    Have you followed these steps:

    You might have skipped to create a new database and import the old one into the new DB, also you need to edit the wp-config file with the new username and password for the database.

    Hi,

    Thx, I did follow these steps which is why I am stumped as to why it hasn’t worked ??
    If all else fails I will try to call the ISP tomorrow.
    Was just hoping to get some peace of mind tonight as I thought this would be quite straight forward.
