• Recently we moved our site to a different server (from Dreamhost to Rackspace) and while pretty much everything went okay, there are some odd problems.

The biggest problem is that when a new user registers and pays (we’re a non-profit organization that has a yearly membership) we would normally get an e-mail from the site saying we have a new user, PayPal would also e-mail us to say we’ve received a payment, and S2 would handle the upgrade to member status.

Now the user registers, PayPal accepts the payment, but we receive no notification of the payment, and S2 is not upgrading the user.

Another odd problem is that we can’t seem to edit users that have been created since we switched servers. We can edit older users, but anyone registered since we made the switch, we can’t edit (we get a blank page when we try).

Any ideas what could cause this problem? Thanks.

Is it possible that s2 somewhere is still trying to, or perhaps even successfully, writing to the old database? If the old database isn’t disabled yet, it will be soon, but in either case, is it possible something is not getting updated properly because of the switch to a new server?

I don’t know about databases but, for the email problem, I’d suggest installing the Postman SMTP plugin.

I was already using Mandrill for outgoing mail.

Maybe so, but the plugin I suggested is not just about providing an email connection; it also provides a means of debugging email issues and a full log.
