    hello,

my wordpress site used to be located at https://www.deepwhitesound.com/releases/x/

now that i’ve redesigned the website to be entirely wordpress, i want it to be located at the root directory https://www.deepwhitesound.com

I simply copied all of the install files to the root directory, use https://www.deepwhitesound.com/wp-login.php instead to login, and updated the site address / wordpress address in the General tab. however, when i try to delete the original installation folder (www.deepwhitesound.com/releases/x/) i get internal server error 500 messages. i don’t understand this, as the files should all be located in the new location at the root directory. is there something i am overlooking, or did i do this move incorrectly in general?

any help is greatly appreciated !

    DB

  • internal server error 500.
    Check your .htaccess

Thanks, turns out I did the move incorrectly and should have followed the instructions here. Changing the site address allows the .htaccess file to be updated BEFORE files are moved, and everything goes smoothly.

    Thanks.
