• I’m in the process of moving my site to a new host. While the domain is being transferred, I can only access my new site via IP address. I was told by my new host that WordPress doesn’t like to work off of IP addresses, so if I try to modify it before the domain fully transfers, I may have problems.

Is there a way to work on my site at the new location while waiting for the domain to transfer and using the IP address to access the site?

I am not sure that is correct. At least I have never heard that.

It normally doesn’t take to transfer the domain. I know they say 24 – 72 hours but in reality it should be much shorter. Every transfer I have done was finished in minutes.

I don’t see why there would be a problem working on the site. But if in doubt, I’d go to lunch and see it the transfer was done when I get back.

They are moving everything via cpanel transfer, so I don’t have to actually move the site myself. My issue was concern that I couldn’t edit my site while I waited for the domain to transfer.

I’ll give it a try when they’re done and see.

    Thanks for the help.
