Move website from subdomain to main domain
-
I’ll try to be clear but I am no developper nor a master in website management so I might struggle a bit to explain my goal. Well.
So I have a WordPress website hosted at godaddy.com. I own two domains, lejustemilieu.ca which is my main domain and another one (subdomain I think), work.lejustemilieu.ca.
At the root of my website (public_html), I got my old website version files. I can still access that old site through lejustemilieu.ca. In that folder, I got another folder (work) in which I have installed my new website to which I can access though work.lejustemilieu.ca. So, I kind of understand that this makes my new website being installed on a subdomain of my main domain.
Now, I would like to move my new site one level up so it is actually installed at the root of the server, making it accessible directly via my main domain. I other words, I would like to change the root directory of my main domain.
If I go to my admin Cpanel/Domains and do Manage on my main domain it is said that I can’t manage the domain nor change it’s document root.
What would be the clean way to move my website? I’ve tried changing the WordPress website address through the WordPress admin interface and moving the files manually but of course it causes a server error. I guess this is pretty normal as a result but I don’t know what to do otherwise. The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
