• Hey, guys recently I was using Altus host for the past three years. But lately, the support team got lazy and didn’t any work. I move now to hostwinds. My account on Altus host was termined/canceled. When I give the backup to hostwinds they need some database backup. I make a whole backup for me sites but still they want database backup. Any ideas what do to run my websites again like the same?

From Altus host say that they deleted it.

  • When you move to a new host you need to backup both WordPress files and the database. By sounds of it Altus have deleted your account, this will be a problem if you have not backed up your database in the past.

Thank you @theisel for reply. I have backup before some months. Full backup. Can they add that on my new host that database backup and then when they have backup to restore the newest one 3-4 days ago without database. Hope you get me.

The link provided by @sterndata is a great starting point to get familiar with the process.

My understanding is that you have a database backup but it’s a few/some months old? This can be imported into your new database. If you need help ask your new host.

Your WordPress files can also be uploaded, any issues speak to your new host.

This all sounds easy, but tread with caution & be patient… issues may appear from plugins, custom code & wp-config.php
