• Goodmorning,

My client would like to move the /Shop page to the front page. I know this can easily be done with setting the front page to “shop”.

However, what does this mean for the URL’s of the products? Can someone give me tips on how to approach this the correct way regarding to SEO, and even if this is advised to do so?

I’ve already explained that google needs to index his products again, since there’s “shop” in the URL (only of the products, not the categories).

I could use all the tips and arguments. Many thanks ??

    Regards,
    Mirna

  • Hi,
you dont achieve the change of products url by changing the shop base page. They are still going to be /shop/productname or /product/productname or whatever. I dont think the standard settings allow product slug to directly follow the domain name (Woocommerce docs).

OK, thank you very much. That is what we would like, to keep the urls the same as they are now picked up by google.

    Thanks for the reply.

For others who are wondering the same, this is what I did:

    1. I changed static frontpage from “home” to “Shop”
    2. In menu added custom link for “home” and removed the old “home” link.
    3. In menu added custom link for “shop” and removed the old “shop” link.

Otherwise “home” points to “/home” instead of the actual homepage, because the static frontpage has been changed. And “Shop” points to the new homepage, while it should be /shop (to avoid 404 link).
