• Hello all,

The website I’m building from the Hueman theme uses the primary sidebar (.s1), on the left, to display the site image (i.e. logo/brand), navigation menu, and search field. I’m happy with the way it displays on a desktop/laptop web browser, but when the responsive layout kicks in to accommodate smaller browsers or mobile devices, the sidebar gets pushed below the main content, so visitors would not be greeted by the site image and navigation menu first.

How can I alter the CSS or PHP files so that the sidebar is the topmost element (i.e. appears first) on small screens?

    Thank you in advance!

  • IMHO, don’t think it’s possible in Hueman.
It is normal behavior of theme – on lower res. you have > sign to expand sidebar.
Don’t know how you succeeded on your site that it appears at the bottom, and you also lost ” 3 horizontal bars” menu that should be the for lower resolutions. If you look at about page of my
website – with also 1 sidebar and a lot of CSS modifications – everything is in place.
Your left sidebar menu looks nice – but obviously you “overhacked” theme.
    Goog luck!

You bet I did! My stylesheet is probably a mess, compared to some. Thanks for your thoughts, Mike Orange.

BTW, Hueman’s Theme Options panel allows the designer to choose “Always show sidebars,” even on low res devices, so that is how I lost the navigation & sidebar toggles. Obviously, I chose that setting because my graphics-laden sidebar is my navigation menu, so I wanted it to display at all times.

I think I will try using the WPTouch Mobile Plugin to make a separate mobile version of the site, instead of tweaking the Hueman theme any further and relying on its responsive layout for mobile visitors.

    Thanks again.

    Your welcome.
Yes, sometimes tweaking of theme goes too far – happened to me couple of times (luckily – not with Hueman).
I think you can mark this [resolved] (basically:closed), doubt somebody can help you (maybe Alex).
    Happy hacking!

I am also looking for same want to move primary sidebar to top in responsive (mobile) layout i am using jarida theme.

Hi cgartist.amit. This forum is for support of the Hueman theme. Since you’re running a commercial theme you should post your question on the author’s support site. From the WP Codex:

    Commercial Products
If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations. Doing this will provide the developer with the income they need to make WordPress awesome.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

    Thank you.
