Move files on disk and update Media Library

  • When my WordPress website was first configured, the configuration option Settings / Media / “Organize my uploads into month and year-based folders” was not checked. It is checked now.

    There are many files in the root of the wp-content/uploads directory. Can this WordPress Plugin move the already uploaded files located in the root of wp-content/uploads into directories on disk by month and year or even just other directories on disk and update the WordPress Media Library so that links to those files aren’t broken?

    If so, can the Plugin be de-activated after the files have been moved without causing problems with accessing the files via the website’s pages?
