    Hi all,

I’ve built my site in a test folder deliberately so I could see how it was working and make sure it was all okay before going live. It’s all ready to go now, but I’m not sure how to nave it to where I need it to be. As indicated in the heading, I have the whole site in a folder at:

    https://domainname.com/test

And I now want to move it to

    https://domainname.com

I’m guessing if I just move files around it’s likely to mess everything up somehow. What’s the best way to do this?

  • In Settings > General there are two urls.
Change both of those to https://domainname.com
    Logout

Move all the files out of /test and into the root folder

    That should work.

Brilliant, thank you. That was slightly nervewracking, but seems to have worked okay. Curiously lost a couple of of small elements (a site logo, a favicon end so on) but that’s probably because wordpress had stored them somewhere else and they therefore didn’t get transferred across. Easy enough to reupload though, so no harm done.

    Many thanks for your help.
