• I have installed the Motif theme since it looks the best for my blog style but I am trying to add colour to the simple layout.

If I add a header, it sits above the Site name and Logo and is quite big.

Instead of the site name and logo, I would like to add a header image, which is the same width and height as the amount of space the site name and logo takes, that sits right on the top menu. I am not sure how to achieve this though.

I would appreciate, please, any help.

Hello, thanks for your reply. My blog is currently on maintenance mode but it is exactly like this.

    https://wordpress.com/themes/motif

    Hello @daddya,
Are you working on WordPress.com domain? If so you have to as on the .com support forum.
This forum is only for .org support.
    Thanks

No I have my own domain and got told to come here but I have put maintenance mode up as I have a small blog where I talk about life so I wanted it offline before it is done or my visitors would get confused. It has a freshly installed motif theme.

    Hello,
There is no any feature available on theme for adding logo on site instead of site title and tagline. If you want to add the logo instead of site title and tagline you have to do some custom work on theme. If you are familiar with code, you can add a section on customizer and call that logo on header section. Or you can hire a programmer for it also.
Try once, and let me know if you feel any confusion.
    Thanks

Okay I want to try with customiser. Where do I find that? Is it in the wordpress admin panel or do you mean editing the template?
