    Dear UpdraftPlus,

I tried to restore the above website using UpdraftPlus. I got a “successful restore” message but most of the media are showing up as broken images. In the media library I see them as broken images as well. Please help me restore my website. I can send the restore log if needed. Thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

Can you please check if the missing image is it the media library? Or check direclty in the “wp-content/uploads” folder?

    Thanks

    Thanks, Bryle.

In the media library I see the “spot” for the image (where thumbnail would be) and I’m able to click on it to see the details such as “File name, Dates, File URL ( https://elbosque.org.ec/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/IMG_2533.jpg) and picture.

In the website I see where the picture needs to be but it just doesn’t show-up. As if there’s some disconnect..

Below link shows screenshots of the Media library and the actual website with “spots’ where the images would be. By hovering my mouse, I can even see names of each image..but the image itself don’t show-up.

    Hi,

Can you try to reset your sites permalink? If you have any caching plugin temporarily deactivate or purge cache.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Hello Bryle, Thanks for your help. I didn’t want to loose the improvements I had done on the website. So, I avoided resetting the permalinks. But I purged cache, deleted empty files in the Media folder. It worked for one page and now I can see photos with their thumbnails. The thumbnails are clickable and lead to full-sized images. on the “LIVE” website.

Interestingly, this trick didn’t work for a second page that was on the same website.

On the unresolved page, pictures appear as empty blue squares, rectangles with no thumbnails. When I hover my mouse pointer over the placeholder, you can see the filename and click those empty boxes to see the full-sized images.

    Thanks.

Hello Bryle, I hope you are having a good week. Interestingly the issue seems to have resolved slowly but completely. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, one of the two pages started displaying images correctly and today I was able to resolve issue with the second page as well.

I did not reset permalinks or revert to an older backed-up version. But today I was able to upload new phots, their thumbnails show-up and they are clickable. So, all in all the issue seems to have resolved.

Thanks for your help and attention

We are glad the issue has resolved at your end.

We need to know the reason behind it. so, I am asking a few questions to you.

Are you using any cache plugin?

Totally understandable and thanks for following-up.

I realized the below over the weekend after I had cleaned-up “media folder of old/empty picture place-holders” (some had turned-up empty after the recent backup Restore) and then re-uploaded the pictures/files.

I was using W3 Total Cache to improve performance of my website.

Over the weekend, I realized that when that plugin was active, I had to click on thumbnails on the “live” page to “load” otherwise I would just encounter a “space-saver” everytime I opened the page new or in incognito mode. So, disabling that plugin has resolved the image issue.

Still not sure why some of the files didnt restore in the first place.

Going forward I can do such changes methodically, so I can help you help me/other’s more efficiently..

I would like to advise you that you should clear (Purge) the W3Total cache after restoring the backup. It might be helpful to you.
