Most pictures not showing in media folder + featured images not showing up

  • I used wordpress importer to migrate my content from wordpress.com to .org. I am using the same theme as I had originally (Twenty-eleven) and have run into two issues that I need help with:

    1. The pictures seem to show on the posts, however only 179 of over 450 pictures are showing up in my media folder. How do I get all my pictures to show up in the media folder? (It’s not a matter of regenerating the thumbnails because they aren’t there either).

    2. Some of my posts had featured images and those are not showing on the individual posts. Even when I try to reimport the featured image and it is in the post, it is not showing up when I update then click on the post from the homepage. Why aren’t my featured images showing up?

    Please help.

    p.s. I am new to this and not too familiar with code, so please be explicit about where to update, find the folder and what to paste if that is part of the fix.

  • Have you checked to see if all of the image files are actually in their relevant uploads folder? Where images are appearing in posts but cannot be used as featured images, have you checked the image urls in the relevant posts in case they are still being pulled from WordPress.com?

    Hi Esmi – thanks for your advice, but can you please be more specific about how I would check to see if all the image files are in their relevant uploads folder? I don’t know how to do that or where to look. Also, how do I check the image URLs if the pics aren’t even showing up in the post?
