    Hi Michael

Love the plugin. I’ve found it very handy in quite a few cases of having to import Word documents.

Unfortunately I keep having the problem of images in the Word files not being imported. the image never shows up in the preview window (or the Raw HTML), and when I insert it into the editor, it’s still missing.

Weirdly enough, the images import correctly in about 25% of the files I receive. I’m having trouble finding out if there’s a problem with the .docx files in some way. As some of the files work fine, it doesn’t seem to be related to the browser or the OS, but I’ve included it below anyway.

If there’s any way you can have a look at it an suggest a remedy, it would be greatly appreciated. If you need access to some of the failing .docx files, please let me know how to send them your way.

    * Could you describe the steps you’re taking, and the behaviour you’re seeing?
I simply press the “Select .docx file” button. Select a file and press enter. It is correctly imported into the preview windows, but images in the file are not present (not in the Raw HTML either).

    * What browser and version are you using?
Firefox 51.0.1 (but the problem existed on earlier versions too)

    * What operating system and version are you using?
Windows 10 with all updates, but the same problem exists on Windows 7.

    * What version of WordPress are you using?
Version 4.7.2, but the same problem existed on earlier versions.

    * Do you get the same problem with other browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome?
Yes, it’s the same problem on Google Chrome Version 55.0.2883.87 (64-bit)

    * Can you successfully upload images using the normal image uploader?
    Yes. Absolutely no problems there.

    * Could you provide a minimal example document that you’re experiencing the issue with?
Yes. An example can be found at the below url, including a picture that doesn’t upload, and a small amount of text: https://gulerodskage.dk/mammoth_test.docx

    * If you open up the developer tools and open the Console tab, then try importing a document, do you see any errors?
    No Error.

    Best regards
    Kim

    Hello Kim,

Many thanks for the answers and the example document. When I try importing the example document, I get the following message:

Could not convert URI to path: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/25/TomBrady.jpg

Could you confirm that’s the case for you as well? If so, the issue is that the document doesn’t actually contain the image, but instead just stores the URL to the image. I think the ideal would be to download the image and include it, but that’s a bit tricky since the plugin is almost entirely client-side. The alternative is just to link to the image directly, but I don’t like the idea of people inadvertently hotlinking.

    Hi Michael

Thank you for the swift reply.

You’re right. I hadn’t thought to consult the “messages” tab. I get the same message for all the files i have problems with.

It seems almost all the files I get sent, only includes the URL instead of actually copying the picture itself into the .docx. document. I will try to contact the people who send me the files, and maybe they can change their way of doing it.

It would of course be perfect if the plugin could download the image from the URL and insert the image into WordPress (like when you import pots to WordPress), but I understand if that is not a viable solution for tecnical reasons.

Thank you again for excellent support.

    Kim
