Most Current Page Bookmarkable Link

    So I’ve been a very happy Webcomic user for a long time. I’m still on Webcomic 3, but getting ready to take the plunge to Webcomic 4. The biggest request from my readership is a bookmarkable link that would always take them to the most current page of the webcomic.

    Does Webcomic 4 offer that?

    Hey Alex! Good luck with Webcomic 4; please do backup everything before attempting the upgrade. I try to get the upgrades right but they always seem to fail in some way.

    To answer your question: yes. Webcomic 4 supports a variety of parameterized URL’s that can dynamically redirect users to the appropriate webcomic. It wold look something like:

    https://yourdomain.com/?last_webcomic=webcomic42

    The webcomic42 bit is the collection ID. If you only have one collection on your site, you can simplify it to:

    https://yourdomain.com/?last_webcomic

    Awesome to hear about that parameterized URL — that’s just what I need! I wonder how it’ll play with my caching plugin. Sometimes the Last button on my site needs to be clicked a couple times to actually get to the last page because of browser caching. But maybe having this as a bookmarkable link would avoid that…

    And yikes, that warning about upgrading is a little scary. I would of course back everything up five ways to Sunday, but one of the reasons I held off on upgrading was hoping that all the gotchas had been worked out with the upgrader.

    Are problems fairly easily fixed? Should I give you a heads up a few days before I do it, just to make sure you’re available in case disaster strikes?
