More than one WP site?

  • I have a WordPress site, but now want to have a second site for an entirely different topic. Do I have to download WordPress all over again? Or does the existing version I already have allow me to create a second site?

  • You will need to download WordPress and install it a second time, yes. Currently you can run one WordPress website per WordPress installation.

    You are, however, able to run multiple websites if you are using WordPressMU. But if I had to guess that’s going to be a little more than you want right now.

    If you have downloaded the wordpress version then you can install it any times..if you have installed it one time then ou can use that source second time in different directory of your domain..

    I have a wp site and wish to use wp for many other sites on the same hosting account. You say I need to reinstall WP for each site and Shane says I can use the source a second time in different domain directory routing, but how do I designate in WP that I want to work and publish abc.com rather tan my first xyz.com? Ryan, do you use WPMU? Thank you very much.

    Shane meant that you can create new installations from the same downloaded copy of WordPress as many times as you want. Just remember to change the wp-config.php file’s settings for each installation.
