Under Menus -> Theme Locations it states “Your theme supports 1 menu. Select which menu you would like to use.”
Is this a version difference or is there a hidden toggle I’m missing that allows more than one menu? Thanks in advance!

  • Not sure I understand fully, but let me have a go.

WP allows you to set up different menus in Appearance>Menus by using the + tab. So I’ve just setup 2: Test1 contains Home-Blog-Contact Us, Test2 contains Home.

If I set Main Menu = Test1, then the main navbar contains the 3 items. If I set it to Test2, it contains 1 item.

You could setup 2 different menus by setting Main Menu = Test1 (3 items), and creating a Custom Menu widget = Test2 (1 item) and store it in the Right Sidebar, setting the Right-Sidebar options in Customiz’it!

    Hope that helps!

I think the second part of what you answered is applicable.

I currently have 3 different menus, but on the main page only 1 will/can display, which is what the Theme Locations bit was about.

So the only way to add separate menus is by doing the said custom menu widget? I’ll have to fool around with that. Thanks!

You can add additional menus to a theme, but it involves some coding, and you’d definitely need to use a child theme to do that. See:

Thank you, WPyogi! Looks like a bit of a challenge for a lowly graphic design student, but that’s what makes it fun, right?

Right on! And it IS very satisfying when you figure it out and it works :)!
