More Post Types or Taxonomy

I want to have some kind of post types other than Page and Posts, say Events where I can enter event title, details, date etc. For this what is the best way.
Do I go for create an extra post type (using plugin like More Fields or Pods CMS) or should I go for Taxonomy (I think taxonomy is also for similar purpose).

Please suggest what would be the best way to have more Posts Types. I plan to have 2-3 more post type kind of thing like events, institutes, people.
