• So it seems that I’ve been able to install wordpress okay with my godaddy host, which other people have had problems with. However, I do seem to have a problem which I haven’t seen anyone else post.
For some reason it’s giving me errors when I try to go and edit any of the files with wordpress. When I got to the manage files area I’m greeted with this at the top:
“Warning: fopen, fwrite, fread, file, fpassthru, file, mail, opendir, readdir, closedir() has been disabled for security reasons in d:\hosting\freshpa1nt\wordpress\wp-admin\templates.php on line 72

Warning: fread, file, fpassthru, file, mail, opendir, readdir, closedir() has been disabled for security reasons in d:\hosting\freshpa1nt\wordpress\wp-admin\templates.php on line 73″

And then below “main template” under “recent” I see this:

“Warning: file, mail, opendir, readdir, closedir() has been disabled for security reasons in d:\hosting\freshpa1nt\wordpress\wp-admin\admin-functions.php on line 908

Warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in d:\hosting\freshpa1nt\wordpress\wp-admin\admin-functions.php on line 908″

    Anyone have any clues?

    Thanks.

  • I’ll add one more to the list of people that have WP working just fine at Godaddy.

So…I’m not a real internet savvy person and thanks to this post I figured out how to get WP to work…thanks.

Thanks this helped and I got WP running with Godaddy, but now I have the prob of not being able to see plugins I have uploaded. can anyone help with that? Do I need to ask Godaddy to turn something on for me?

Sorry to keep bumping this but I still can’t get plugins to show up on my Godaddy site….everything else is working just fine, I don’t understand what the problem is!!!!

OK, in the end all I needed to do was switch from the Windows server to the Linux server. Then everything worked just fine. Maybe that was ust too obvious of a point that nobody asked me what kind of server I was on. Since I switched I have had no problems. Actually, Godaddy’s support has always been timely with me, I think they are doing a good job at hosting my account overall.

You need Godaddy to switch you from Windows to Linux hosting and you need to have the Deluxe hosting plan – not the Economy.

I have a post about it link moderated

The Deluxe package is also needed for permalinks.

The economy hosting plan works just fine for WordPress… I have it running on at least half a dozen sites, mostly for clients. You get the plan with CGI – it works perfectly. (And yes, that’s with no problem with mod_rewrite/.htaccess OR permalinks.)

ladydelaluna is right, you can use the economy plan. I contacted Godaddy to confirm this.
