I’m getting more and more frequent 403 errors from BLC for perfectly accessible URLs. For instance, one of thinks that have a 403 error according to BLC is https://www.boekhandelvannoord.nl/9789022591222-klaverblad/. That’s the most recent example, but I’m getting these about twice a week. Of course, I click Not Broken, but if this keeps on, there’ll be only links left that I’ve marked Not Broken, and that would defeat the purpose of BLC…

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @florismk

Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

I tested the shared link and got a 200 status:

    https://monosnap.com/file/IFTdAPeIbE9EJPTjf4RJxmrywK0khs

The plugin is going to ping the link using the website IP, if the service block this specific request or IP the plugin receive a 403 status and let the user know, so the user can decide if it is a false positive or not.

Unfortunately, the issue is not related to the plugin but the destination blocking the request.

We do have plans to improve how the plugin handles some links, especially for Amazon URLs, but we don’t have an estimated time yet.

If it is the same website, you can add the website to be excluded from the scan on Settings > Link Checker > Which link to check > Exclusion list, you can try to add it for some time so the plugin won’t do extra request to the destination link and see if it will allow the IP after some time.

    Best Regards
    Patrick Freitas
