    Hello,

I want to make very simple custom webages from a blank page.

I started old school from scratch in the early days of the modern internet using text editors and dial-up. I’ve been out of the loop though.

I don’t need epic themes. I want to write a paragraph/block, be able to easily move it, resize it, edit it fully under my control. The same with images etc. I’m looking for simplicity and compactness.

I want to easily eliminate white space where I don’t want it. That seems to be difficult or impossible and drives me crazy.

    I’ve been trying the plugins…

    Classic Editor

    Gutenberg and Kadence

    Otter

Is there a plugin that will do this?

I found a program that does exactly what I want called WYSIWYG. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the added capabilities that WordPress has.

I think that maybe if I could get control over the size (width seems impossible) of the blocks and the white space I might be OK.

Something that would be more similar to any of the other mainstream programs like Word or Photoshop and many, many, others.

    Thank you very much!

What is this “dial-up” you speak of? ?? /s

In the process of developing these sophisticated modern day page builder apps that make it easy for anyone to create a web page, we’ve had to give up a lot of fine control and leave it to the app to handle such niggling details for us. For discriminating graphic artists and those with similar tendencies, this lack of full control is aggravating.

In some cases there is finer control available, but the settings are buried deeply in the UI somewhere where it’s difficult to find. In other cases we need to resort to custom CSS to achieve what we want. Some page builder apps have a special area for adding custom CSS. Or it can go in the Additional CSS section of the customizer or style book.
