    Hello,
in my Optimole backend, also in WP I’m seeing a monthly usage of 4k users.
In reality, also in Google Analytics, the number is about 10 times smaller, about 400-500 users per month. Whats the problem here?

    Hi,

You can find here the daily distribution stats https://dashboard.optimole.com/visitors and the number is counted from the day of the month since you signed up + 1 month. I.e if you signed up on 24th of Jan, the time when the visits are counted is 24th Jan -> 24th Feb for the current month.

We don’t use the same mechanism of filtering visitors like Google Analytics, so that’s why you might see a difference. For instance, we count any visits on your site, either there is a bot or human. Analytics might ignore bots in those cases. Also, we count the users using AdBlocking solutions, Analytics doesn’t.

Just to remind, our stats are daily, i.e if you have two visits from the same user into two different days, they will be counted as 2. If you have two visits from the same user, on the same day, they will be counted as one.

    I hope this helps !

Thanks for the quick reply. So where can I see when the ‘month’ has actually started?

Taking all in consideration this would mean 500 users per month but 4500 crawler visitis or visits form adblock per month. That sound very unlikely. I’ve now reduced the google crawling rate from ‘auto’ to the lowest possible option to see if it makes any difference.

    Hello,

You should see all the information regarding your account on https://dashboard.optimole.com You can find there when the current month cycle ends and you can see previous months and stats.

    Thank you!

Counting bots as visitors is HORRIBLE usage analytics to count visits and then charge for overage. That is unacceptable. I also noticed you went up on the pricing after I signed up.

Totally agree, charging for numbers noone can comprehend or control is obviously not a good marketing strategy. This might also give the impression that this could be used to control your business figures at last.
Your intention was obviously to give your users the impression that they have a huge 5k limit and let em find out afterwards that 5k visits are actually only 500 visits.

    Hi @hcn303,

If you don’t want a specific bot or user agent to access your site, you can block them using your firewall or hosting. As long as your site can not be accessed by the actors that you don’t want, the images won’t be displayed to them either.

I can’t imagine a use case when someone would like to display a site with images for some users and without images but with content to the rest of them.

We are actively working on improving this, so any feedback is welcome on how we can better tackle this.

    I hope this helps!

I’ve just given you feedback on what feels really wrong here, but your answer is only about blocking bot traffic.
Give your users prices based on umbers they can comprehend and stop trying to attract new visitors with those ‘false’ limits please!

    Thanks for your feedback, @hcn303!

From your point of view, which is the ideal metric that would make you feel comfortable using Optimole?

E.g. filter out the bot traffic or use GA numbers right away

Their usage numbers are way off (exaggerated) even accounting for extra usage by bots and those using ad block. They have also raised the price a LOT since I signed up less than a month ago.
