    Hi Daan,

Monsterinsights just released support for gtag.js. Can you please confirm that switching from analytics.js to gtag.js will work properly?

    Thank you,
    Gal

I’ll have to check out their code.

I’ll setup an environment this weekend, and see what they’ve done ??

    Hi,

Any luck with this? The plugin does not work anymore with Monsterinsights once user toggled the gtag option on.

There is no option to get back to analytics.js once user turns this on in Monsterinsights – I have inquired with them and they confirmed – even though technically you can turn off in their plugin.

Ouch, well that sucks that you can’t revert the changes.

I’m sorry, for not circling back to this. I’ll look into it right now!

    Hi guys,

Today I looked into the code and it looks like I made it work. The sucky thing is that I can’t connect to MI’s services, since they don’t support local environments to be connected to their services. So, I don’t really have a real life example.

So, what I’d need is a website where Monster Insights is currently active with GA v4. So I can look into the page source and compare the rendered tracking code with the one I have now, locally.

    I appreciate your help!

Hi Daan, I’m currently using the GA v4 code on my store. Hope you get it working soon.

    Thanks ??

Thanks for sharing your URL with me @pclweb.

I looked into your site’s source, and I don’t see the v4 tracking ID anywhere (starting with G-) Instead I see the UA- tracking ID in the code. So how does this work, exactly? How does Google Analytics know it should send the data to the v4 ID?

I might come across as clueless, but I’m having a hard time understanding how Monster Insights handles the v4 activation. Are there specific steps that need to be taken (e.g. outside WordPress) or something?

Daan, it may be good to contact MI Support. I find them responsive. I’m sure they have some hook you can use, if the one you’re using now doesn’t work for v4.

Just to clarify, gtag.js may not mean GA4, and I think MI is only ready for gtag.js at this point.

Also, on my sites, I still don’t see the setting to switch.

Yes I’m seeing the same. V4 data is being sent as I have my old property linked to my new v4 property and data is being generated where it wasn’t previously.

I’m also not seeing the new properties showing up in the settings. Maybe it’s not property ported over yet.

I’ve reported it to MI. Let’s see what they say.

@pclweb If you’re seeing v4 traffic in GA, that’s a good sign. Are you seeing the same traffic on both new and old properties?

I can see gtag.js being used on my test site and have sent @daanvandenbergh the URL, so he can work on the integration.

Let’s sit tight for a bit until he’s done.

    Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you know that I managed to have gtag.js and analytics.js to be loaded from your server when gtag.js is used in Monster Insights.

I even managed to bring back Stealth Mode support for gtag.js! (Yay me!)

I’m currently reviewing the other compatible plugins to see if things need to be changed there. So all this will be included in the next release (in the next few days).

    Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you know that CAOS 3.9.0 supports Monster Insights’ gtag.js and also supports Stealth Mode for (the same) gtag.js.

To clarify, the gtag.js that MI uses isn’t the V4 API (like Gal already stated) if you want to use gtag.js with the V4 API, you can use e.g. WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration.

Let me know if you need anything else!

    (@galbaras)

So I’ve updated all the relevant plugins, and I see that the file served by CAOS is still analytics.js, although I’ve configured both plugins to work with gtag.js (v3).

    What am I missing here?

    Hi Gal!

Could you share screenshots of your settings for MI and CAOS?

Btw. Gtag.js (in v3) is a wrapper for analytic.js. so, analytics.js is also loaded. Are you sure gtag.js isn’t loaded first?
