Using a new hosting service and my MailPoet newsletter will not save. The MailPoet knowledge base has a page on this which says to disable ModSecurity which I did via cPanel.
This did not work. MailPoet says to contact the hosting service and ask them to update their Mod_Security rules (which will whitelist MailPoet).
I contacted the hosting service who obliged, but still newsletters will not save in MailPoet.
I mentioned this to the hosting service, who said: “Since the mod_sec is completely off, the issue could be with security plugin in the WordPress installation.
This is getting too technical for me now, and I’d really appreciate someone from MailPoet giving some input on how to get back on track.

  • Hi,

That’s weird, usually what you’ve done works.

Can you try to disable all of your plugins and see if that works?

Also, change the theme to a default one (like twentysixteen) and see if it helps.

    Let us know the results!

Thanks. Do you mean disable all plugins — except MailPoet?

I disabled all the plugins (except MailPoet); newsletter still won’t save.
I switched theme to twenty-fifteen; newsletter still won’t save.

I also deactivated, deleted and then reinstalled MailPoet.
And also duplicated the newsletter to start afresh.
    Neither of these worked

It looks like us non-Premium customers don’t get much attention any more.
If by chance someone from MailPoet fronts up to this enquiry sometime, they should know that with regard to this enquiry that:
any kind of formatting, i.e. changing text from paragraph to heading or the other way round, then the page closes and opens in a ‘Page not found: 404 error’ on my site.

In the meantime I’ll see if MailChimp or someone can help me with this newsletter.

After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing with this support area and with my hosting service, I got fed up and deleted the newsletter entirely. And then created a new one. And now the editing works.
So clearly bugs get into MailPoet from time to time and cause havoc. Bit of time-waster.

Create New Newsletter did not work for me. This, after doing all the recommended debug, deactivate, Mod-Security… This issue has been unresolved for almost a year…
    Movin’ on
